Some interesting facts about several aspects of the rise of modern Tokyo . I knew some of ancient history but the 1920s was new knowledge.

Mostly, the narrator's voice is mega annoying and doesnt feel right for the topic. I grew up in Tokyo, from 1972-76 when there were very few gaijin. I dont know if this would be as insteresting to someone who hadn’t but maybe. Happy to see Japan at all, frankly.

Much of this show is not about Tokyo. Most of it covers Japan's rise as an imperialist power and its attacks on China. The show begins with video from the 19th century and early 20th century and a discussion of its development and the fires and earthquakes that devastated the city but the focus quickly shifts to Manchuria and the Japanses military. If you know the basics of Japan's history then this show is largely a waste of time.
