A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness, the birth of a new form of life on Earth, and the evolution of sin, the series was created for television by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who executive produce alongside J.J. Abrams, Richard J. Lewis, Roberto Patino, Athena Wickham and Ben Stephenson. The acclaimed cast also includes James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Luke Hemsworth and more.

Reviews

  • The flavor of the show changed and not for the better.

They seem to be trying to explain what happened rather than have the story continue.
  • Jonah Nolan is back at it.

With Season 2, we get to see more of the creativity of Jonah Nolan, brother to the genius Chris Nolan. Though he doesn't reach the heights of his brother he can be force of nature for writing and a catalyst of ideas like we saw from him in Season 1, and the movies of the Dark Knight Trilogy and Interstellar. As in his work with Interstellar, you see more of his working in of abstract ideas/concepts which can make for challenging viewing if you don't binge watch the season, seeing each episode one after another.

I'll say it: Season 2 not only does a very nice job of following up on the first, but it's better. The story arc, even when things seem to be wandering off the path, is more consistent and coherent than in season 1 -- more philosophical and even metaphysical, less confused mumbo jumbo. Two episodes that superficially seem to be digressions, 5 and 8, actually add depth and meaning to the overall -- and the story in episode 8, a Native American spin on the Orpheus myth, is downright beautiful. The last episode, unfortunately, is a bit of a confusing mess -- not unlike season 1 -- which, even at its length and deliberate pace, seems to be in a bit of a rush to tie together all the narrative lines of the season (well, most of them) while also hinting at several directions season 3 might go. It's too much. Simpler might have been better. Still, overall, I think it's very good tv, better than season 1, and full of promise for the next.

Love the show and the head actress is great (Evan Rachel Wood).
  • Giant disappointment in season 2

Season 1 took a fairly complex subject and turned it into an interesting Hollywood style storyline. The characters were for the most part interesting and there was enough meat in the storyline to provide some suspense. So I enjoyed it enough to buy season 2. What... happened... here? What an awful sophmore season. Many of the returning characters were the more annoying ones from season 1, the story is much more predictable and now the show has started to get into issues that while philosophically interesting do not make for good entertainment. No waiting for season 3 from me. No intention of ever watching this again.

Simply awful: Pretentious. Exploitive. Brainless. None of the cleverness or fun of season one.

Who on earth could possibly like this trash? Bad story Bad acting Bad cinematography Predictable Stupid I want my money back. This show is horrid. How does something this bad get funding. Everyone involved in this should work at a fast food joint for the rest of their lives.
  • Good till episode 5, which went stupid

Did a whole new set of writers take over for episode 5? If I can make it through this episode, hopefully the greater story will resume. Update: episode 5 is just some weird, forced story filler, skip it and they get back on track in 6
