Description

When Shadow Moon is released from prison, he meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday and a storm begins to brew. Little does Shadow know, this storm will change the course of his entire life. Left adrift by the recent, tragic death of his wife, and suddenly hired as Mr. Wednesday's bodyguard, Shadow finds himself in the center of a world that he struggles to understand. It's a hidden world where magic is real, where the Old Gods fear both irrelevance and the growing power of the New Gods. Mr. Wednesday seeks to build a coalition of Old Gods to defend their existence in this new America, and reclaim some of the influence that they've lost. As Shadow travels across the country with Mr. Wednesday, he struggles to accept this new reality, and his place in it.

  • Best Neil Gaiman adaptation ever

I fell in love with Neil Gaiman’s work with The Sandman originally, but then took a chance on reading American Gods after completing the graphic novels. The book dragged me in hard; it was the first time in my life where I got addicted to a book and couldn’t put it down until I was finished. So my expectations were high for an adaptation and they absolutely delivered. My imagination is more grand than what can be put on the screen within a budget, but I’m thoroughly satisfied with what they created. The casting was superb too and as a “The 100” fan, I’m glad Whittle got the main role. I hope this show is seen through to its end without cancellation and potentially moves into a spin off with Anansi Boys. The main issue I have is with marketing. I’m an avid Gaiman reader and had not heard about this show until I stumbled across it after its premiere. It needs more appropriate advertising for our era with YouTube, Facebook, other social media.

Do you think the last two Jurassic Park movies were awesome? Are you continually delighted and surprised while watching Marvel superhero movies? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, you’re going to hate American Gods. 5-Stars.
  • Extremely Good Show!

I love the concept of this story and think they've really nailed it with how they've chosen to create and visualize this world and it's characters. Can't wait for season 2!
  • I Really Like the Story

This has a great story line, with a lot of mystery. It could really develop into a great show as long as they have sight on a middle and ending. The acting is good. Finished all the episodes in two days. Had to get to the end. Looking forward to the next season.
  • How is this show not getting more attention?!?

I am a fan of the source material but went into this show with completely neutral expectations, was mostly just hoping to be distracted and to say I was pleasantly surprised is putting it mildly to say the least. I cannot get over how extraodinarily well done I think this show was and how few people I know have heard of it let alone watched it. From top to bottom this show is really brilliantly done, it's dark, it's funny, it's visually stunning it's well acted...the best thing I can say is that I thought about it many times after I finished it. I will say that it had been a while since I read the book and from my memory, I was surprised at where in the story it got to/ended but if anything it just makes me very curious and hopeful for season 2. Fingers crossed it continues.

I’d easily watch this show over pretty much anything on TV. There is no flaw, from the acting to the Intriguing storyline. The mystery leaves you wanting sooo much more!

Why do they keep making these shows with such simple characters.
  • Too Dark for Me

Just a little too much darkness for my taste. Didn't make it through episode 1.

There's not an actual story here. Some great actors, sure, beautifully shot, yes, but there's not really an actual story. Maybe the book is amazing, but Neil Gaiman wrote it. He didn't write this show. This show lack any structure beyond beginning and ending.
