Jon Hamm stars as Mason Skiles, a former U.S. diplomat, who gets sent to Beirut to negotiate a swap for the release of a terrorist leader, believed to be imprisoned by Israeli secret police, in exchange for a CIA agent who has been kidnapped. Confronted by ghosts from his past, Mason faces a formidable question: Who do you trust in a world where the truth emerges only when it's convenient – or profitable? From the writer of the Bourne trilogy, this taut action thriller also stars Rosamund Pike and Dean Norris and is being hailed by critics as "tense & ever-twisting" (Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times).

  • By the Numbers Movie

    By Mission Accomplished
A lot of the drama in this movie is the characters just trying to get to the next meeting on time. Also this movie assumes you're a Middle East expert. If you don't know how the Lebanese Druze felt about their neighbors the Maronite Christians and the Palestenians or how the Sunni Muslims feel about the Shia then you should read up before you watch this movie. And it ends on a downer, the US Marines barracks being blown up.
  • Old formula

As usual, the terrorists are the obvious bad guys but we Americans are the latent bad guys and Hollywood has been feeding us this crap since 9/11/01.
  • Better than expected

Don’t believe the media reviews. This film has top notch acting (John Hamm especially) and is well-paced. Very suspenseful and full of action and intrigue.

Quite entertaining with a good storyline, excellent acting and an intriguing backdrop. Had quite a few twists and turns with enough excitement sprinkled in to keep you watching throughout. Certainly worth a watch.

    Great movie, Great Acting
  • Beirut is 6000 years old

    By aboudi.adra
When your society is less than 300 years old, you do not portray historical and biblical cities other than what they are. You are so cheap and lame filming in Africa, portraying Beirut as a 5th world country to fit your low budget movie. Shame on you, and the industry you represent.
  • Wanted to like it...

Beyond slow and missing a plot

I was hoping more from this. Very disjoined, could be much, much better.
  • Impressive!

A lot of spy movies are lacking the big picture and are written for a teenager who likes explosions. The screenplay here is for an adult who has an interest in Cold War politics and has seen a few movies about the CIA. Action scenes are realistic but not over done. The mix of different languages is pleasing to the ear and it’s fun to see the retro tech like a belt tracker and tracing frequencies from walkie talkies. Special thanks to the folks who put this one together. Well done!
