Based on the unbelievable but true events, I, Tonya is a dark comedic tale of American figure skater, Tonya Harding, and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history. Though Harding was the first American woman to complete a triple axel in competition, her legacy was forever defined by her association with an infamous and poorly executed attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan. Featuring an iconic turn by Margot Robbie as the fiery Harding, Sebastian Stan, Allison Janney, and an original screenplay by Steven Rogers, Craig Gillespie's I, Tonya is an absurd, irreverent, and piercing portrayal of Harding’s life and career in all of its unchecked—and checkered—glory.

  • I remember

I was a huge ice skating fan when I was a kid so I was around when this happened, though I didnt know the details. I would tape the comeptitions and watch them over and over. Anyway, this movie gave some insight into Harding's life which is really quite interesting to say the least. I loved the movie. Great comedy.
  • Best film I’ve seen in years.

I’m shocked at how good this film is. It totally caught me by surprise. It has a “Fargo” feel to it while remaining a work of art that is all it’s own. Dark, funny, and leaves you with a gut punch that makes you question some things. Brilliant acting, directing and soundtrack. It’s 1am, I just finished it and I absolutely have to watch it again!
  • Who honestly CARES?

This movie didn't need to be made. It wasn't Bad it wasn't Good. It was just MEH! A story that anyone born before 1980 or so was old enough to remember living through. We saw the news and made our own decisions. We really did not need a movie about Winter Olimpic drama and assault. Honestly the only thing this movie made me wonder about was... "Wait did this happen before after they split the winter and summer games by a 2 year rotation?" Seriously does anyone else remember when All olimpics were in the same year? Both summer and winter!
  • Very Well Acted By All

What an amazing story about the infamous Tonya Harding. You actually start to feel for her even though if you were around in the 90s, you probably couldn’t stand her and you were 100% sure she was the mind behind the Nancy Kerrigan “incident”. If you are to believe this depiction of the story, then you might start to think Tonya unfortunately just surrounded herself with morons and may not have actually known. Moving away from the storyline and on to the acting, Margot Robbie is spot on and believable as Tonya. And Allison Janey is such a wonderful b*tch, so miserable and never satisfied, and just so believable as the hated mother of Tonya. She was spectacularly a jerk. And the stunning Margot Robbie looked very plain and ordinary in the film, so you weren’t blinded by her beauty. She really played the character well to the point that one would actually feel sympathy for her. I really enjoyed this film. It’s well-paced, interesting, and reveals a whole new side to the Harding/Kerrigan story. It’s hard to get past how I felt about Harding in the 90s, but this film definitely will make you appreciate where Tonya came from and the amount of work she put into becoming a top athlete. Again, can’t say enough about the acting from the two stars Robbie and Janey!!

Terribly sad portriat of some very troubled people just trying to survive and get caught in a media frenzy. A study on fame. Great acting all around.
  • Brilliant

Allison Janney was amazing !!! She's such a great actress . It's crazy how the news and paparazzi can literally ruin a person's life because the truth isnt dramatic enough ... Clearly its more appealing to hear the real facts ..
